Grilling and barbecuing are among America's leading culinary pastimes and Atlantic City is raising the stakes by hosting the Inaugural DO AC Smokin' Hot Atlantic City BBQ Championship October 3 - 5, 2014.

When the flames begin, music fans, barbecue enthusiasts and championship barbecue teams will descend upon Atlantic City for an unparalleled experience close to the world famous Boardwalk and what is fast becoming known as one of the premier barbecue competitions in the world.

"The New Jersey State Championship will bring the world's best barbecue teams to Atlantic City," said Ron Cates, event organizer. "Even though there is $20,000 up for grabs, it's really about more than that; it's about respect among their peers. Those that compete in this contest know the winner will be recognized as one of the best barbecue teams on the planet."

Considered one of the world's richest contests with a guaranteed purse of $20,000, the Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned DO AC Smokin' Hot Atlantic City BBQ Championship Grand Champion's purse of $3,500 is also one the largest on the competition circuit.
